Android-15 New Features is Here

Not Ready for Regular Users

Android 15 is out in its initial developer preview form, but unless you're a developer, it's not for you! This early build is rough, with bugs and crashes expected. Let's look at the first changes and what they might mean.

Similarities to Android 14

Don't get too excited - the Easter Egg ("Vanilla Ice Cream") and overall settings appearance remain the same as Android 14.  The notification panel is also identical.

Minor Changes and New Features

Smoother UI: Stock Android feels slightly more fluid, but this might not translate to phones with custom interfaces.

Flashlight Control: Finally adjust your flashlight brightness! (Samsung users already have this, but it's new for stock Android). Sadly, this feature appears broken in the initial build.

Animation Tweaks: Expect subtle animation changes like fingerprint unlock fades.

Screen Recording Upgrade: Target recording to a specific app rather than the entire screen - a neat feature for focused demonstrations.

Haptic Brightness: Changing screen brightness now gives a satisfying haptic buzz.

Bluetooth Shortcut: A handy pop-up window simplifies Bluetooth device connections.

More to Come...

Notification Sorting: Manage those notification floods with time-based batches.

Quick Font Change: A quick settings shortcut lets you adjust font size on the fly.

Circle to Search: Expect to see Google's search shortcut becoming standard thanks to partnerships (Samsung already offers this).

Overall Impressions

The changes seem minor so far, and the bugs are typical of a developer preview. We'll see Android 15 mature with new builds, with more features and fixes arriving. Stay tuned for updates on how stable Android 15 becomes!
